Meet Kelsey homonai, lcsw-C

It’s time to invest in yourself.

I’m a Maryland-based therapist specializing in anxiety, life changes, and coping skills.

I want you to truly hear this:

You are not broken and you don’t need to be “fixed.”

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that you are the expert on you.

And I can’t wait to know you.

In fact, we probably aren’t all that different. Women trying our best to be the best we can be for the people we care most about. What’s getting in the way, though? Your loud thoughts that won’t stop. The mental load you can’t seem to get your partner to share. Maybe it’s the stress of the world, or maybe it’s simply behaviors that are no longer serving you. Whatever the reason for seeking out therapy, we will work together to understand all the parts of you and build on your strengths to reach your goals.

How I work

Central to my therapeutic approach is balancing acceptance and change.

Therapy styles can often fall into one of two categories: acceptance focused and change focused. Acceptance based therapy can prioritize talking about the past while leaving out tangible tools for growth. Change based approaches focus on all the ways you need to change without taking the time to understand and appreciate who you are and why you are struggling.

My standard of practice is to hold space for both.

Acceptance - building a relationship in therapy to understand who you are, what problems you are facing, and what is most important in your life. Change - identifying the tools and strategies that align with your values and needs, practicing them together, and paving a new path forward.

Therapy with me is…

01 Collaborative

We are a team working toward your goals together. I ask that clients come to session prepared with topics they’d like to explore, and I will provide support in processing, practicing skills, and managing life.

02 Individualized

This is your treatment, and I will be intentional when considering the best ways to support you. My training in skills based treatments equips me to support each client as a unique person.

03 Rewarding

As you learn more about yourself and practice the tools taught in therapy, you will experience positive and consistent change in your life.
